Psychiatrist & PhD Clinic owner, Vestegnsklinikken Senior researcher Speaker Comedian
I am a psychiatrist and PhD whose primary research focus is interventions before, during and after sick leave due to mental disorders — including stress, anxiety and depression. In recent years I have also become intensively engaged in research on ADHD diagnostics, epidemiology and interventions, and in transdiagnostic approaches for people waiting for psychiatric assessment.
I own and run Vestegnsklinikken in Glostrup — a specialist psychiatric outpatient clinic with 10–15 staff. The clinic hosts CORTEX (Collaborative Research Unit for Transdiagnostic Explorations), where we investigate how psychiatric treatment can be delivered most efficiently to keep waiting times down. A central tool is Concept WAITLESS, which integrates metacognitive therapy and transdiagnostic group interventions.
I hold guest researcher positions at three research units and regularly teach clinicians on transdiagnostic approaches and the ADHD diagnosis in adults.
Since 2023 I have hosted the podcast Mens Du Venter (While You Wait), and since 2013 I have performed stand-up comedy.
My research spans psychiatric diagnostics, ADHD, transdiagnostic interventions, and how psychiatry can best serve the many people who are waiting. I currently hold guest researcher positions at three research units.
CORTEX investigates how treatment in specialist psychiatric outpatient practice can be organised efficiently — keeping waiting times down while improving quality of care. Concept WAITLESS integrates metacognitive therapy and transdiagnostic group interventions. In 2025, FFUS awarded approx. DKK 500,000 for a pilot study on psychoeducation for patients on the waiting list for ADHD assessment.
Led by Professor Ole-Jakob Storebø. The current collaboration concerns a project on the effects of the ADHD medication methylphenidate in children, with a focus on systematic, evidence-based methodology.

I have been involved in the IBBIS project since 2016 — a randomised trial on integrated interventions for people on sick leave with stress, anxiety and depression. FORMS also studies Individual Placement and Support (IPS) for young people, currently being rolled out across Danish municipalities.

Among other topics, we study the Rumpelstiltskin Effect — the phenomenon whereby receiving a clinical diagnosis itself produces therapeutic benefit, independent of any medical intervention. The phenomenon raises fundamental questions about what a diagnosis actually does to and for a patient.
Read more about EMPIRA →A Danish-language podcast on psychiatry and mental illness — for everyone waiting to see a psychiatrist, and for anyone curious about what psychiatry can and cannot actually do. Since 2023, more than 33 episodes have been released with guests including researchers, psychologists, physicians and public debaters.
Topics range widely: the dilemmas of ADHD diagnostics, the Rumpelstiltskin Effect, placebo, group therapy, the consequences of waiting lists, and the role of medication in psychiatry. A recurring theme is the priority dilemmas facing society and psychiatry — what we know, what we do not know, and the importance of not overstating the evidence. Andreas often discusses how psychiatrists can best communicate complex knowledge, and what it means to provide the best possible care within the constraints that actually exist.

I give talks and teach clinicians — with research in one hand and (occasional) humour in the other.
Since 2013 I have performed stand-up comedy, and continue to do so on special occasions — such as scientific conferences and professional events. Day to day, I draw on that experience to make my talks and teaching more humorous and engaging.
I am also available as a conference host on occasions where my background in clinical work and research in the health and social sector can be meaningfully brought into play.
